West Ham ace Declan Rice is relishing facing Tottenham on the opening day of the Premier League season and is particularly looking forward to playing against Tanguy Ndombele.

Ndombele joined Spurs from Lyon in a £55million transfer earlier in the summer and has impressed fans with his pre-season displays.

“I’m really looking forward to playing against Ndombele,” Rice told talkSPORT. “I watched him in the Champions League last season and he looked like a top, top player.

“The French boys here were raving about him, saying what a good player he was, so I’m looking forward to playing against Spurs and looking forward to playing against him.”

The 20-year-old, though, couldn’t resist reminding everyone that West Ham were the only side to win at the new White Hart Lane last season, but he did back the Hammers’ rivals to fight Liverpool and Man City at the top of the Premier League.

“Everything they’re doing now and the player’s they’ve got, they’ve definitely got the squad now to be challenging up there for titles, and I wouldn’t put it past them.”

Although impressed by the business of Tottenham, as well as Arsenal, Rice is still backing West Ham to have a strong campaign as a result of their transfer business, which included the signing of Albian Ajeti on deadline day.

We’ve really strengthened the squad as well,” the England international continued. “We’ve brought in some great players and have spent a lot of money and I think we’re one to look for this season, for sure.”
