Liverpool fans in Anfield’s Kop end held up an impressive mosaic to celebrate their Champions League victory ahead of the new season’s opening game.
However, it wasn’t shown on the live TV broadcast of the match and so went unnoticed by a lot of watching supporters.
The Reds beat Tottenham 2-0 in European club football’s most significant final at the end of the previous campaign and seemingly wanted to make sure nobody had forgotten two months later.
Goals from Mo Salah and Divock Origi delivered Liverpool their historic sixth Champions League win on June 1 – three more than any other English side.
Since then, the club’s supporters have been boasting relentlessly about their dominance on the continent in what has been a long summer for rival fans.
