Here we go again folks.

The Premier League season is back and for Spurs, it’s a historic one, as the club is set for it’s first full season at the new stadium.

Lucas Moura has looked good for Spurs in pre-season

First up for us is new boys Aston Villa – live on talkSPORT – who have done the reverse Spurs and signed absolutely every player in sight.

We speak from experience in saying that signing lots of players at once never quite works out – just ask Andre Villas-Boas.

But still, the nature of the Championship means squads are often full of loan players who soon depart when the bright lights of the top division come calling, meaning bulk buying is often a necessity.

The first game will be interesting to say the least. Despite fantastic pre-season displays against Juventus, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, a defeat, on penalties, at home to Inter Milan on Sunday put a dampener on proceedings somewhat.

As per most pre-season friendlies, our quadruple substitution of youngsters half way through the second spell showed that we are still very light on the ground when it comes to the first team.

I thoroughly expect a home win against Villa on Saturday night – don’t get me wrong – but focus will quickly turn to an away trip at champions Man City the following week, a daunting task to say the least.

Lots of people have asked me how I think the season will pan out, and honestly, I don’t have a clue.

Holding on to top four has never been so important, with the top six likely to become a top eight very soon with the likes of Wolves, Leicester and West Ham chasing.

Mauricio Pochettino has got an interesting season ahead of him.

We say it almost every season, but if Spurs can maintain top four and pick up a domestic trophy along the way, I’ll be chuffed to bits.

But, reaching the Champions League final last season has given me a taste of the big time, and I’d put money on the fact our players felt the same way.

The exciting thing about Spurs is, you never know what you’re going to get. Mauricio Pochettino has promised big things and came so close to delivering just that last time out.

Buckle in folks, things are about to get bumpy.
