Neymar has been axed from Paris Saint-Germain’s squad for their Ligue 1 opener against Nimes as he edges closer to the exit door.

The Brazil forward wants to quit the French champions and has been linked with moves to Barcelona and Real Madrid this summer.

PSG sporting director Leonardo revealed talks are ‘more advanced’ about a possible exit for Neymar before the French transfer window closes on September 2.

And he will not play any part against Nimes on Sunday evening, as PSG get their season under way.

Leonardo said: “Talks are more advanced than before, but no agreement.

“We will see what happens – everybody needs the future to be defined.”

Neymar joined PSG in a world-record £200million deal from Barcelona in 2017.

But the 27-year-old has become disillusioned in Paris and reportedly wants to return to the Nou Camp.

PSG boss Thomas Tuchel claimed Neymar is nursing a knock.

He said: “It is my job to be coach. He is in an individual training phase, in and out of collective sessions.

“He is still a little injured. He took a knock and did not do a full week [of training].”
