Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says goalkeeper Alisson Becker will be out for ‘the next few weeks’ with a calf injury.
The Brazilian, 26, sustained the freak injury taking a goal kick during the Reds’ Premier League triumph over Norwich at Anfield.
It was feared by Kopites that Alisson would be sidelined for some time and these fears have now been realised.
Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: “[It’s] Not too cool. It’s a calf injury which takes him obviously out for a while.
“I don’t want to make now [an] exact prognosis on when he will be back but it will not be Wednesday for sure, so now then we have to see. It takes a while, it takes a couple weeks for sure, and we have to see.
“I saw already like ‘six weeks’ and stuff like this, but Ali was not a lot injured in his career so I would like to wait a little bit to see how he develops in that process now, but he is not in for the next few weeks.”

Alisson, who moved to Anfield for £67million in July 2018, claimed the Premier League’s Golden Glove award for keeping 21 clean sheets in 38 matches last season – which is more than any other keeper since Petr Cech managed 24 in 2004/05.
His injury is a big blow for Liverpool as they target challenging Manchester City to win the Premier League title this season.
Alisson will definitely be unavailable for the Reds’ UEFA Super Cup final date with Chelsea on Wednesday night.
New signing Adrian is expected to start between the sticks with youngster Caoimhin Kelleher likely to be the Spaniard’s understudy for the match in Istanbul.
