Marseille have sacked defender Adil Rami after he went mud wrestling on a reality TV show despite telling the club he was injured, reports claim.

The Frenchman reportedly told the Ligue 1 club he had to skip training before appearing on Fort Boyard.

And according to L’Equipe, Marseille have now terminated the World Cup winner’s contract following the bizarre episode.

Having failed to report for first-team training in May, Rami was then filmed jumping around and grappling with fellow contestants on a TV show.

Manager Andre Villa-Boas has reportedly grown tired of the 33-year-old’s sporadic behaviour since he split with ex-Playboy model Pamela Anderson in June.

Rami went AWOL from training following the messy break up with Anderson, who later described him as a ‘monster’ as a result of the ‘double life’ she claimed he lived.

The centre-back was reportedly keen on moving to America and starting a career in the MLS, but his plans were scuppered following the end of his relationship with Anderson.
