Over the years the Liverpool vs Chelsea rivalry is one that stemmed from very little but has since evolved into one of the most fascinating meetings in the football calendar.

The two sides face off on Wednesday in the Super Cup having won Europe’s respective cup competitions last season.

In fact, the game is the most played fixture between English sides in all competitions in the 21st century, with the two sides playing 60 times since 2001.

It will be the 11th time the clubs have faced off in UEFA tournaments since first meeting in the Champions League 14 years ago and the match is LIVE on talkSPORT.

Liverpool were the last English team to win the Super Cup when they beat CSKA Moscow in 2005, while Chelsea are aiming for a first win since they beat Real Madrid in 1998.

Chelsea last played Liverpool in European competition in 2009In the last European match they shared, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard scored the final goal of the game in a 4-4 draw Champions League quarter-final second leg match in 2009.
