James Maddison has been hailed by manager Brendan Rodgers after another impressive showing for Leicester in their 2-1 win at Sheffield United.

Maddison set up Jamie Vardy to score the opener against the newly-promoted side and it was his second assist in as many matches following his corner for Wilfred Ndidi to equalise at Chelsea last week.

“There’s not too many players who can play the pass he (Maddison) made for the first goal,” Rodgers said.

“His touch and his through ball were sensational. Jamie doesn’t even need a touch, it comes right into his path and he does what he does best, it was a wonderful finish.

“Everyone sees the chances he creates. He finds space and can manipulate the ball and create chances for other players.

“Tactically, he’s improving all the time. He loves football, which helps. He thinks about the game. He talks about the game. He loves playing the game and training.

“He’s at a really high level this early in the season is James. He’s a player of quality and I’m sure Gareth [Southgate] will have been having a good look at him.”

England face Bulgaria and Kosovo during the upcoming international break as they continue their quest to reach Euro 2020 and Jamie Redknapp has called for Maddison to be included.

“This kid has to play for England now. He’s ready. We don’t have many other players like him,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
