Vincent Kompany’s testimonial ended in a 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Manchester City legend received a tremendous send-off after leaving for Anderlecht in the summer, however had to watch from the sidelines as he was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Kompany refused to let this ruin the occasion though and worked closely with the ‘Man City Legends’ against the ‘Premier League All Stars’.

City took the lead within the first minute as a defensive mishap from Gary Neville/Jamie Carragher (it depends who you ask) allowed Martin Petrov in on goal and he fired past Edwin Van der Saar straight away.

Punditry duo Carragher and Neville argued on the pitch after the goal, though this was soon brought to a halt as Gary was substituted with a hamstring injury.

The ‘Premier League All Stars’ turned the game around with Robbie Keane and Robin van Persie scoring either side of half-time, but could not escape the Etihad with a win.

Benjani popped up as the equalising hero to head past Shay Given late on and earn a 2-2 draw, much to the delight of the 50,000 crowd.

Although the night was ultimately about Kompany, Paul Scholes stole some headlines as well, turning back the clock with some sublime passing and one particular piece of flair which caught the eye.

During his career in Manchester, Kompany won four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and four League Cups.
