Martinez’s bold claim

Emiliano Martinez has been at Arsenal for over nine years, but has been restricted to only 14 senior games for Arsenal.

Martinez, who is currently on loan at Championship side Reading, has claimed that he is ‘equal to or better’ than first-choice Bernd Leno.

The 27-year-old told the Arsenal En America podcast last he feels as if he could break into the first team and take Leno’s place as Arsenal’s no. 1 this season.

Wegner tried for Sancho

Arsene Wegner has revealed he tried to bring Jadon Sancho to the Emirates Stadium while he was still in charge of Arsenal

The Gunners’ enquiry was instantly dismissed with the north London side told that Sancho was not for sale.

Sancho, now 19, would ultimately leave for the Bundesliga in the shape of Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2017.

Per Mertesacker encourages Mesut Ozil

Former Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker  has urged Mesut Ozil to ‘step up’ in an exclusive interview with  talkSPORT.

Ozil is yet to feature for Arsenal this campaign, and the club’s technical director had the following to say about his former team mate.

“He needs to play at this best, when he is a leader on the field because of his actions with the football, because of this magic touch no one has in the squad.

“No one has that in the squad and we really need that.

Full-backs returning soon

Arsenal have confirmed that both Hector Bellerin and new signing Kieran Tierney are back in first-team training after being sidelined with injuries.

The pair are not expected to feature against Watford this weekend, but both are likely to slot back into the starting XI once they are fully fit again.
