Wilfried Zaha: Crystal Palace star wants new agent after failing to join Arsenal or Everton during summer transfer window

Wilfried Zaha wants to dump his agent having failed to leave Crystal Palace over the summer despite interest from Arsenal and Everton.

The 26-year-old was subjected to two Toffees bids, in excess of £50million, during the transfer window, but remained at Selhurst Park.

Earlier in the year he was also wanted by Arsenal, though they ended up moving for alternate target Nicolas Pepe, who was eventually brought to the Emirates for a club record fee.

As a result of his failed switch, The Times claim Will Salthouse, who is part of agency USM, has been informed Zaha no longer wishes to be represented by him.

Palace value Zaha at around £100million, but it is understood the club would have accepted an £80million bid for their star man.

Everton lodged an improved offer of £55million plus striker Cenk Tosun, but the proposed deal was rejected by Palace chairman Steve Parish.

Zaha was believed to be ‘devastated’ at not getting his move to Everton, who instead signed Alex Iwobi for £40million from Arsenal.

Last month, Parish revealed Zaha would only leave the Eagles for the right price.

The Ivory Coast international would have felt particularly aggrieved after Aaron Wan-Bissaka secured a big-money move to Manchester United in June.

Parish said: “I’ve watched him every week for ten years so there’s even a bit of me that wants to see what he can do at a top club.

“I wouldn’t want to be the person who stopped that.

“He deserves to get there. I hope it happens and sometimes it mystifies me he’s not up there already. We’re lucky to have him.

“But if that top club comes along and the money’s right, he’s an extraordinary talent and it’s going to be very difficult for us. It was just at that moment we weren’t aligned.

“Aaron Wan-Bissaka went to United, so if top clubs come in for our players with the right money, then it’s a timing issue.”

Zaha is yet to score or assist a goal in his opening four Premier League games this season.
