Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had plenty of questions to answer ahead of the Premier League’s return this weekend.
The Red Devils will look to end their three-game winless streak when they welcome Leicester to Old Trafford on Saturday, but the Foxes are unbeaten in their opening four games.
Plus, Solskjaer will have to make do without Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, and Luke Shaw amid an injury crisis at the club.
The Norwegian was able to discuss some good news in his press conference, though, issuing a positive update on contract talks with David de Gea and heaping praise on Dan James, who netted again on international duty.
Here’s everything he had to say about that, plus plenty more…

Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw OUT of Leicester clash
“The treatment room’s been busy and still is. So we don’t really know who’s gonna be available… there’s maybe Aaron [Wan-Bissaka], maybe Jesse [Lingard] and I think maybe that’s it from the ones that pulled out [of international duty]. But I can’t promise those two will be available either.
“We hope more can be ready for West Ham next week and Paul [Pogba] and Anthony [Martial] are in that category, I think they’ll be ready for then and I can’t say more than that really.”
Incoming players will have a point to prove
“Well, you’ve got players who can come in with loads of experience; Juan (Mata), Nemanja (Matic) and Ashley (Young) who didn’t start the first game and have got to step up. The average age might go up.”
David de Gea contract talks still ongoing
“I want David to stay here – he knows that. David’s the best goalkeeper in the world. We’ve seen that over the years and I hope I can make sure he’ll finish his career at Man United at the highest level.
“There’s been loads of talks, lots of discussions between David and the club and hopefully we can get it done.”
Harry Maguire will thrive against his former club
“I think he’s been brilliant. I think he’s come into the dressing room and been a leader. He’s also a leader on the pitch and I’m sure he’s looking forward to playing against his old team.
“Now he’s here he’s going be a big part of the future of this club. We watched him enough to know he’s the guy we wanted that’s why we spent the money we did on him.
“Leicester didn’t want to lose him.”
Dan James will be hauled off if he threatens to break the manager’s goalscoring record!
“He’ll only play the first minute and he’s off!
“When you’re scouting him, when I spoke to Giggsy [Ryan Giggs], I’m not surprised. He’s come in and when you score in your first performance at Old Trafford you get confidence and he’s been great for us.
“There’s more to come, he’s got that X factor with his pace and explosiveness in and around the box. He’s been practising right foot and left foot and he’ll score more goals.”
