Tottenham enter the clash with various injury concerns, especially following the news that summer signing Giovani Lo Celso will miss up to six weeks of action.

Moreover, Christian Eriksen continues to make the headlines after failing to secure a move away from the club during the summer transfer window, while academy star Troy Parrott caught the eye during the international break.

Read everything Pochettino said about that, plus much more, below…

Is Eriksen happy at Spurs?

“He’s happy. He was always happy. He never said he wasn’t happy here.

“Everyone of course has aims, goals, challenges. I told you before the Arsenal game he was in his right mind and that’s why I played him.

“Always he was an important player for us. In our sixth season, we’ve always appreciated him a lot. His qualities are there and important for the team.

“He’s happy and if we believe he deserves to play then he’s going to play. It’s not because he has less than one year on his contract we’re going to take a different decision. All decisions are based on performance.”

How frustrating is the injury to Lo Celso?

“Always it’s a sad situation, very disappointed. For Giovani, the first months here was to adapt to a new club and new football.

“Everything he was doing in a very good way. We are all so disappointed because now we need to wait for him.

“In the same way we need to be positive, it’s not another way to take it, but we need to be positive and try to provide him with good quality training and recovery.

“In the moment that he’s ready, to be strong and start to help the team again.”

What do you make of Parrott’s progress?

“I think the progress was there because he had the possibility to be involved in pre-season. Now he’s more consistently training with the first team.

“But I think he needs time, we need to be relaxed. We cannot put his name in the spotlight every day because we’re not going to help him by doing that. He’s still so young.

“The best way to help him is to be calm and relaxed about him. If he’s going to be involved, perfect. If he’s going to be involved with the Under-23s instead, perfect. Sometimes he’ll train with us, good.

“Now it’s a process where he needs to be relaxed. If we put too much pressure we’re going to force or push him to make a mistake and that’s what we don’t want.”

Does he feel more relaxed now that the transfer window is closed across Europe?

“Now, for sure, it was so important to be refocused.

“The conversation today altogether now is the squad we are going to have until January, when the rumours will appear again and different situation.

“It was very good to talk today for nearly one hour and refocus again on our objective.

“To be clear in our minds, to think that the most important is the collective and start to put outside individual situations, all together again and try to create a dynamic and be strong and starting winning games.

“That’s the most important thing for us now.”

Is Kyle Walker-Peters fit and will Ryan Sessegnon make his debut?

“We have plenty of options for Saturday. Of course, we played Davinson Sanchez.

“Kyle, after his injury, is with the group and Serge Aurier and on the other side we have Ben Davies, Danny Rose and Ryan Sessegnon.

“We need to assess tomorrow the cases of Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan and Kyle tomorrow what condition they are in.

“We have seven games in 21 days. It’s going to be tough and we need all at their best.”

On Kieran Trippier’s criticism of the club over his exit

“I didn’t see it, but I heard about it. I can explain how I feel.

“We had a conversation where he explained he was going to move to Atletico Madrid – okay nothing more.

“Yesterday (Wednesday) when Harry Kane arrived back he said to me ‘did you get Kieran’s text?’ I said ‘no’ because I changed my number. Maybe because he doesn’t have the new number.

“Because he (Trippier) believe his words were twisted – I don’t know nothing more.

“Kieran translated this message to me through Harry Kane. He wanted to tell me. But I’ve got no problem with Kieran.

“In football decisions happen and players move from one club to another. What happened, happened and we need to move on and he needs to think of Atletico Madrid and be happy there.

He added: “After the summer he came to see me, he asked me for a meeting and said ‘gaffer, I think I have a good possibility and for different reasons I would like to accept the offer from Atletico Madrid’.

“He didn’t ask me nothing. He only communicated whether the club were going to accept the offer. Nothing more.

“It wasn’t a conversation – you want me? Or you don’t want me? It was so clear.

“He played the final, when I had plenty of different options, with Serge Aurier, Davinson Sanchez, Kyle Walker-Peters. But he played the final. My actions talk more than my mouth.

“There’s no point to talk about if something happened or didn’t happen. The reality is one reality, but who is right in all this process?

“There’s no point to talk. But I keep very good memories from him.”
