Man United legend Paul Scholes plays down THAT magical pass in Vincent Kompany’s testimonial – ‘It was luck!’

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has played down that magical pass in Vincent Kompany’s testimonial, insisting it was more ‘luck’ than anything else.

Although the night was ultimately about Kompany, Scholes also stole the headlines with some sublime passing and one particular piece of flair which caught the eye.

He produced an outrageous no-look pass to Robin van Persie with the outside of his right boot in the 58th minute, reminding us all that he’s still got it.

Scholes rolled back the years during the testimonial

“I think it was a little bit lucky and I think it’s been blown out of proportion a little bit!” Scholes exclusively told talkSPORT.

“I really enjoyed it. It was for a great cause and Vincent Kompany’s a legend at Manchester City for what he’s done.

“It was a pleasure for us to play because it was a really good night.”

Meanwhile, Scholes also said it would be no ‘big loss’ to United should Paul Pogba leave the Premier League giants in the near future.

The 26-year-old continues to divide opinion at Old Trafford, having endured a rollercoaster spell since rejoining the club from Juventus three years ago.

The French midfielder hinted he was ready to go during the summer transfer window and was heavily linked with with moves to Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

And Scholes remains unconvinced with the enigmatic midfielder, who he says has made it ‘quite clear’ he wants to depart United once again.

Scholes added: “I think it’s quite clear he wants to leave the club.

“He wanted to move to Real Madrid [in the summer] and for whatever reason it didn’t happen.

“If they ask him to stay for a year then we’ll see what happens. But I don’t think it will be a big loss to United [if he does go].

“At the end of the day his form hasn’t been great anyway over the last three or three years he’s been there.

“I’m sure there’s more players there who can step in and do just as good a job.”
