Arsenal transfer news: Mesut Ozil reportedly fears Gunners career is over and may have already played final game for club

Mesut Ozil believes his Arsenal career is over and fears he has already played his final game for the club, according to reports.

The German playmaker’s Gunners future has been thrown into serious doubt this season over a lack of game time under Unai Emery, with the coach dropping him from each of the past three matchday squads.

Last week Emery admitted Ozil did not even ‘deserve’ a place on the bench, while Gunners legend Ray Parlour believes there is no way back for the German in north London.

Emery said: “I am thinking every time to decide the best players for each match and the best players in the squad to play and to help us.

“When I decided he shouldn’t be in the squad it’s because I think other players deserved it more.”

The Mirror say Ozil, the club’s highest earner on £350,000-a-week, fears he has played his final game in an Arsenal shirt.

The 30-year-old’s most recent appearance came when he captained a youthful Arsenal side in the 5-0 Carabao Cup win over Nottingham Forest last month.

And despite being named as one of the club’s five captains, Emery remains keen to move Ozil on.

The Spaniard is believed to have axed Ozil from his recent matchday squads because he has been left unimpressed with his attitude in training.

The former Real Madrid star was linked with a move away from Arsenal in the summer, but clubs were reportedly unable to afford his high wages.

Earlier this week, reports in Turkey claimed Fenerbahce have opened talks with Arsenal over a loan move for Ozil – but it is thought the Gunners would still be paying a huge chunk of his wages.

Ozil joined Arsenal in a £42.5million deal from Real Madrid in 2013 but his days in north London now appear to be numbered.
