Jamie Carragher has jokingly thrown his weight behind Coleen Rooney in her row with fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy.

Social media erupted on Wednesday afternoon when Rooney claimed information from her private Instagram account was being leaked to the tabloids by Vardy.

Following the allegation by Rooney – who told her 1.2 million Twitter followers that she had spent five months working out who was sharing stories based on her personal social media posts – Vardy said she ‘never’ speaks to journalists about her.

The story dominates today’s front pages, and given Wayne Rooney and Jamie Vardy’s connection to the drama, we had to ask Jamie Carragher about it on Drive!

“I’ve got to be ‘Team Rooney’, haven’t I? I’m a scouser!” the Liverpool legend told Andy Goldstein and Jason Cundy, who quickly moved onto sport-related matters.

Sports Breakfast hosts Alan Brazil and Ally McCoist also made light of the subject on this morning’s show.

McCoist joked: “I would’ve thought, rightly or wrongly, there might’ve been one or two more newsworthy stories.”

And Brazil added: “Front page? Give us a break!

“There’s got to be more interesting things going on than two WAGs having a go at each other.

“What has the world come to?”
