Laurent Blanc keeping tabs on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s situation at Manchester United as former PSG boss eyes return to dugout

Laurent Blanc is allegedly keeping close tabs on the current situation at Manchester United with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s position under scrutiny.

Blanc, 53, has been out of work since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in 2016 but is believed to be keen on returning to the dugout in the near future.

The France veteran, a former United defender, has recently been heavily linked with the Lyon job – which ex-Red Devils chief Jose Mourinho has already turned down.

The lure of a potential move to the Premier League is an exciting prospect though, with Blanc ‘attentive’ to the latest goings on at Old Trafford, RMC claim.

Solskjaer finds himself under intense pressure right now following a woeful start to the season which sees United down in 12th with only two wins from eight matches.

The Norwegian is expected to survive the international break, and may not be sacked even if the Red Devils are thrashed by Liverpool upon the Premier League’s return.

However, United visit Norwich the following week and a negative result in that fixture could spell the end of Solskjaer’s time in charge of his former club.

Earlier in the week the French media outlet claimed there has already been contact between Blanc’s representatives and United.

Barcelona legend dismissed from youth role after alleged bust-up

The latest reports claim the former World Cup winner very much views the Ligue 1 side as a ‘Plan B’, having already rejected their advances in the summer after Bruno Genesio’s axing.

The position is vacant again after former Arsenal and Barcelona defender Sylvinho was dismissed on Monday after just 141 days in charge.

Former Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has also been linked with the post.
