Manchester United made the decision to sell Romelu Lukaku over the summer and the Belgium forward has been in fine fettle since departing Old Trafford.

He linked up with Antonio Conte at Inter of Milan and has already scored three goals for the Serie A challenges in his first seven appearances.

And while club football has currently taken a backseat, Lukaku has not – keeping the goals flowing during the international break.

Lukaku scored twice against San Marino to extend his lead as Belgium’s all-time leading scorer

Belgium booked their place at Euro 2020 on Thursday evening with a 9-0 rout of San Marino, Europe’s traditional whipping boys, with Lukaku grabbing a brace against the minnows.

His first goal on the night was his 50th for Belgium, meaning Lukaku became the first player to ever reach a half-century for the Red Devils.

San Marino held out for almost half-an-hour before Lukaku opened the scoring, with the floodgates then opening in Brussels.

The striker grabbed a second later in the match, with Nacer Chadli, Toby Alderweireld, Youri Tielemans, Christian Benteke, Yari Verschaeren and Timothy Castagne also scoring. San Marino’s Cristian Brolli unfortunately scored an own goal to make his night even worse.

Inter, who also signed Alexis Sanchez from Man United earlier this year, congratulated Lukaku on Twitter for his record-breaking feat.

Belgium’s victory ensured they were the first team to book their place at Euro 2020, and England can join them with a defeat of Czech Republic this evening – a match which you can listen to LIVE on talkSPORT.
